Slabbing Gold Coins !

Staying with the theme of numismatic gold coins (as opposed to bullion)…I want to make a point:

There still seems to be some sort of debate about the importance of 3rd party verification and slabbing of gold coins.

Well- speaking as someone with no axe to grind- it isn’t a debate:

It is a FACT that slabbing coins adds value.

Yes, we all love to hold, feel & touch coins, BUT when the time comes to sell…..you must have the coin slabbed to get the maximum price.

 Why?

Simple. If you decide to sell via eBay or one of the real world auction houses, you wish your coin to have as many potential bidders as possible.

How can it manage this, when people the other side of the World, can only see photos (of which Photoshop has made us all suspicious)?

BUT, if your coin says “PCGS MS 63”, everyone knows exactly how good the coin is and feels confident to bid.

Modern on line auctions basically require you to get your coin slabbed, if you wish to get the best possible price.

And it goes without saying- don’t skimp. Use one of the well established, reputable coin grading operations.

Till next time,

Happy Bullion coin collecting,

Paul
